Sidebar button same color as home screen background

Sidebar button being the same color as part of the home screen background, makes it hard to see for a first-time user that it's a button. It seems to have a glowing effect applied to it and I'm guessing it's supposed to be a work-around for this issue. While this work-around partially solves the issue, it's not a very desirable effect to have in a modern UI.

The button should be made more obvious through use of a different color than the ones used in the background (maybe the shape could be modified too) and the glowing effect should be removed.
